Red Champagne
Authentic Red Champagne from Lac St-Jean in "La belle province" Quebec, Canada
The drink was created in 1937 by Elzéar Plourde, who founded Breuvages EPL in Saint-Félicien . At first, the drink was a kind of scientific experiment with a view to winning an election campaign, but the new brew met with unexpected huge success. Elzéar Plourde therefore decided to continue production and expand the sales market by opening a branch in Métabetchouan-Lac-à-la-Croix in 1941. In 1944, expansion continued in Jonquière . After World War 2, the drink knows its greatest expansion and its greatest success. The Plourde family continued production until the 1980s. Subsequently, the brand was sold to Philippe Simard et fils. Nowadays, the drink is sold more and more in stores, it has remained popular and has become a pride of its region. The sale of this soft drink is now more or less limited to certain businesses (restaurants and convenience stores) in the region.
